PUMA beats Q2 forecasts, shares fall after cautious outlook

PUMA reported a smaller-than-expected Q2 loss of –0.49 USD per share and revenue of 1.69 billion USD, both slightly above analyst expectations. On a currency-adjusted basis revenue fell 9.4%, adjusted EBIT remained negative, while gross margin rose to 48.0% and free cash flow increased significantly to 329 million EUR. Puma records sales decline and remains in the red in second quarter

Puma reports a roughly 10% sales decline in the second quarter to just under €1.7 billion and continues to incur losses. Adjusted EBIT worsened to minus €41.9 million, and the net loss fell to €72.8 million due to lower one-off costs. CEO Arthur Hoeld reiterates the ongoing restructuring with inventory reductions, store closures and job cuts; in the short term Puma expects further sales declines in Q3, but a gradual recovery later in the year.
