At Innotrans, Stadler showed the double-deck KISS multiple unit for long-distance services and the battery-powered FLIRT for non-electrified regional lines for ÖBB. ÖBB and Stadler have signed a framework agreement for up to 330 KISS and FLIRT trains, with 84 trains due to enter service this year. The KISS spreads traction power across more axles and offers increased capacity and comfort; the FLIRT charges its batteries while running or at terminal stations and is intended to replace costly line electrification. Stadler Rail has delivered eight Eurolight Dual locomotives to the Italian freight operator FS Logistix. The class combines DC electric traction and a diesel engine for operation on electrified and non-electrified lines. The buyer is Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal, which provides shunting services in ports, terminals and stations and operates a fleet of more than 200 locomotives. Stadler Rail achieved record first-half 2026 sales of 1.96 billion CHF (+40%) with an EBIT of 79.5 million CHF and an EBIT margin of 4.0%. Order intake rose 60% to 2.738 billion CHF and the order backlog stands at 33.3 billion CHF. Despite a confirmed full-year guidance (sales >5 billion CHF, EBIT margin >5%), the share price fell about 22%, driven by concerns over cash flow, the pace of profitability improvement and burdens from Germany as well as flood damage in Valencia.
