LG Display plans to pattern large OLED panels not with metal masks but using a photolithographic FLiPP process. The method is said to enable more precise pixels, up to 60% higher brightness, longer lifetime and about 13% lower power consumption (values not achieved simultaneously). FLiPP eliminates mask sagging, allows coating Gen‑8 substrates in a single step and, according to LG, improves glass-substrate utilization by up to 64%, reducing production time and costs. LG Display achieved Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) Capability Level 2 certification on June 1 for its automotive instrument clusters and center-fascia displays, validating its software development and reliability processes. The milestone, following its ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity certification, positions the company to compete in software-defined vehicle platforms.
