SMU reports moderate revenue growth, net profit falls 91%

SMU increased revenue in Q2 by 2.2% (H1 +2.1%), while net profit collapsed by 91% due to restructuring costs, lower disposal gains and higher interest expenses. Gross margin fell by 40 basis points in the quarter to 32% and EBITDA declined 2.3% in Q2, although H1 EBITDA improved. Sales improved toward the end of the quarter and in July/August; SMU expects a gross margin of about 32% for the rest of 2026 and is targeting an EBITDA margin of 8–8.5% in Q3 and 8.5% for the year.
