BKW buys the Öhringen-Karlsfurt wind farm from ABO Energy, increasing its onshore wind capacity in Germany by 33.6 MW to about 217 MW. The park comprises seven turbines of 4.8 MW each, is scheduled to start operations in Q1 2027 and is expected to produce more than 80 GWh per year. Power sales are secured long-term under the German Renewable Energy Act; construction work has been under way since Q2 2025. BKW is reducing electricity prices in the basic supply again from 2027; a typical four-person household saves about 7.6 percent — for 4,500 kWh roughly CHF 7.90 per month or CHF 95 per year. Actual savings depend on consumption behavior. From early 2027, BKW will also voluntarily offer a dynamic grid-usage tariff that grants discounts on sunny summer afternoons to encourage consumption when photovoltaic production is high.
