Dürr posts improved result in second quarter despite BBS problems

Dürr reports an after-tax loss from continuing operations of €89.1 million in the second quarter, compared with €110.5 million a year earlier. The company booked an impairment of €94.9 million on the BBS Automation unit acquired in 2023 and announced the cut of 500 jobs at BBS. Dürr sticks to its annual guidance and expects 2026 sales of €3.9–4.3 billion, an adjusted EBIT margin of 5.0–6.5 percent and order intake of €3.8–4.2 billion. Weaker performance at subsidiary BBS Automation led to an impairment of around €90–100 million and the elimination of about 500 jobs worldwide; this is expected to save roughly €30 million in annual costs. In the second quarter group sales fell by about 2% to €981 million, the adjusted EBIT margin edged up to 4.3% and incoming orders rose 13% to €914 million. For BBS Dürr plans an impairment of roughly €90–100 million, the elimination of around 500 jobs and annual savings of about €30 million; restructuring costs for 2026 are estimated at €40–50 million.
