HSBC lowered Li Auto to Hold from Buy and cut its price target to $18.60 from $30.30, citing significant recalls, delivery problems and declining sales as signs of serious operational issues. The bank slashed earnings forecasts by about 82%, flagging falling margins and an uncertain outlook for 2026. Goldman Sachs also trimmed its price target to $27 while keeping a Buy rating. Li Auto is recalling 11,411 MEGA models built between 18 February and 17 December 2024 because a coolant used lacks sufficient corrosion resistance. In extreme cases this could lead to thermal runaway of the drive battery.
