Air China shares fell about 4.9% to a 22-year low of HK$3.78. The net loss attributable to shareholders widened in H1 2026 by roughly 26.8% to about RMB 2.29 billion; loss per share was RMB 0.13. Air China reported a 11.2% increase in passenger traffic in July on a 4.8% rise in capacity, achieving a passenger load factor of 85.0% (up 4.9 percentage points). International traffic grew particularly strongly (+17.4% traffic, +8.8% capacity), while regional routes declined (-10.4% traffic). Air China operated the Chinese passenger jet Comac C919 on an international route from Beijing to Ulan-Bator for the first time; the flight lasted just under two hours. The aircraft is expected to serve the route daily going forward. The C919 is the first commercial airliner developed entirely in China, but it still uses imported components such as engines from CFM.
