AXT doubles capacity for indium phosphide wafers and benefits strongly from AI boom
AXT reported a 165% revenue increase in the second quarter to $47.59m, driven by record sales of indium phosphide wafers used in data-center optical networks. Adjusted gross margin rose to 45.0% and adjusted EBIT turned positive at $11.2m. Management and analysts expect continued strong growth; AXT received capital proceeds from an equity raise and long-term supply contracts and plans a significant expansion of indium phosphide capacity by the end of 2027. With high uncertainty about the duration of the AI boom, the stock is very highly valued despite strong fundamentals and remains volatile. » More on finanzen.net
AXT jumps as record indium phosphide price hikes boost optics suppliers
Indium phosphide (InP) substrate and epitaxial wafer price increases above 10% amid severe undersupply are driving a rally in optics stocks, with AXT up about 400% year-to-date and leading gains. Higher InP pricing directly improves AXT margins after strong Q2 results and the company is accelerating capacity targets through 2027. Coherent and Lumentum are also rallying as they expand internal InP output and buy substrate from AXT, while institutional filings show notable stakes in AXT and Coherent by D.E. Shaw, Millennium and NVIDIA. The InP squeeze is being read as part of broader AI data-center demand supporting the optics and power-supply supply chain. » More on finance.yahoo.com
AXT Inc increases revenue and profit in Q2, stock continues rally thanks to AI demand
AXT Inc reported record Q2 revenue of $47.6 million and returned to GAAP profitability, driven by strong indium phosphide sales and customer orders for optical data-center interconnects. Analysts including Needham raised their valuations and set a $90 price target; B. Riley also raised its target. A supply and capacity agreement with Lumentum, a leveraged ETF on AXTI and a Q3 revenue forecast of about $66 million with backlog above $100 million support demand. The stock rose intraday about 2.6% to $79.49 and shows relative strength despite a weak broader market. » More on de.investing.com
