DICK’S Sporting Goods: core business stable, Foot Locker remains a challenge
At the Goldman Sachs conference DICK’S Sporting Goods emphasized that the core business, especially in footwear, remains robust despite pressure on established models. The company is maintaining its same-store sales guidance for the core brand and expects rising gross margins thanks to media activities, but anticipates a continued advertising-intense environment through year-end. The acquisition of Foot Locker creates assortment imbalances and weaker EMEA performance, but is expected to deliver long-term synergies of $100–125 million, while store concepts like House of Sport and Fieldhouse as well as digital/AI tools are intended to support growth. » More on de.investing.com
S&P Global cuts outlook for Dick’s Sporting Goods to 'stable'
S&P Global Ratings has lowered the outlook for Dick’s Sporting Goods from 'positive' to 'stable', while affirming the issuer rating at BBB. The move reflects weaker business from a discount-driven environment and problems in restructuring the acquired Foot Locker unit. S&P expects an adjusted leverage ratio of about 2.4x at end-2026 (previously 1.7x), declining adjusted EBITDA margins and materially lower free operating cash flow for 2026, as well as significantly higher investments to fund stores and the Foot Locker integration; synergies of $100–125 million are expected over the longer term. » More on de.investing.com
Dick's Sporting Goods plunges after cutting full-year outlook as Foot Locker drag persists
Shares fell over 30% after Dick's cut its full-year guidance, blaming a highly promotional athletic-footwear market, excess inventory and cautious consumers for weaker sales and margins. The $2.4 billion Foot Locker acquisition underperformed, with pro forma comparable sales down 3.6% and a quarterly operating loss, offsetting 4.9% core-store growth at Dick's. Management trimmed revenue and EPS targets, said it will participate in promotional pricing to protect market share and is focusing on synergies, Fast Break stores and product innovation to restore momentum. » More on forbes.com
