Mercer receives C$20 million to modernize pulp mill in Alberta
Subsidiary Mercer Peace River Pulp is receiving C$20 million from the Canadian government via PrairiesCan under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative to modernize the mill in northern Alberta. The funding consists of C$1 million non-repayable and C$19 million repayable, with repayment beginning in 2031. The Canadian government is granting Mercer Peace River Pulp, the pulp mill subsidiary of Mercer International, C$20m in support through PrairiesCan under the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, consisting of a C$1m grant and a C$19m repayable contribution with repayments starting in 2031.
