The European Commission allows Germany to support Sanofi with €400 million to offset the net costs of building a new insulin factory in Frankfurt‑Höchst. Sanofi commits to complete the facility by the end of 2032 and to produce at least 1.1 tonnes of insulin annually until the end of 2042, as well as to stockpile one tonne of active ingredient. In the event of supply shortages, Sanofi must prioritise supplying European markets.
