Privatization rumors push Square Enix shares up more than 8%

Square Enix shares jumped 8.3% on Tuesday to ¥3,199 and reached as high as ¥3,294 intraday after magazine Sentaku, citing a securities firm, spread speculation about a possible privatization. The backdrop is the roughly 18.5% stake held by activist investor 3D Investment Partners, which has repeatedly called for improvements in corporate governance and capital allocation.
