  • Fitch raises outlook for ANZ Bank New Zealand to positive

Fitch has raised the outlook on ANZ Bank New Zealand’s long-term issuer default ratings from “stable” to “positive”; the long-term IDR remains at A+ and the short-term IDRs at F1. The upgrade reflects the expectation of aligning the anchor rating for shareholder support with the parent company Australia and New Zealand Banking Group’s long-term IDR. This alignment is expected once the bank is permitted to issue loss-absorbing instruments to the parent company through the end of 2028. » More on de.investing.com

  • ANZ raises Q3 cash profit despite NZD 125m provision and improves capital ratio

ANZ reports a 1% rise in cash profit in the third quarter versus the quarterly average of the first half of 2026 (5% excluding a NZD 125m provision). Net interest margin increased slightly, CET1 ratio rose to 12.51% and the cost-to-income ratio was 49.66%. Loan and deposit growth remained solid, with business and retail banking contributing materially via 4% loan growth. Management confirms its 2026 cost and margin guidance, expects further upward pressure on the net interest margin in the second half and remains committed to integrating the Suncorp Bank. » More on de.investing.com

  • ANZ drives mortgage growth with aggressive investor rates

Macquarie reports that ANZ recorded strong mortgage growth in March after losing market share, driven by investor lending with an annualized increase of over 10%. The bank is offering interest-only investor loans 15–30 basis points below competitors and appears to be the only major bank paying a cashback to retain customers. At the same time, ANZ has raised term deposit rates by around 15 basis points above peer levels, which could indicate increased funding needs. Macquarie expects a small 2026 margin benefit from term deposits for the big banks but keeps the sector rating at “Underweight” due to default and volume risks. » More on de.investing.com
