  • S&P downgrades Aston Martin senior secured bonds to CCC and cuts outlook

S&P Global Ratings has cut the rating on Aston Martin’s senior secured bonds from CCC+ to CCC, assigned a negative outlook and lowered the recovery rating from 3 to 5 (expected recovery in insolvency of ~25%). Aston Martin took out a new £550m credit facility (£450m drawn, £100m deferred), repaid existing revolving and syndicated lines and held around £340m of liquidity as of 1 August 2026. S&P expects adjusted debt to rise to over £2bn by the end of 2026, higher interest costs of about £30m per year and a negative free operating cash flow of around £200m for 2026, which is also likely to remain negative in 2027. The agency treats the new debt as senior in insolvency, which reduces repayment prospects for holders of the existing secured bonds and could lead to further downgrades if liquidity or Valhalla deliveries deteriorate. » More on de.investing.com

  • Aston Martin closes £550 million refinancing and shares rise

Aston Martin has agreed a £550 million refinancing package, consisting of a £450 million first‑lien secured loan and a £100 million delayed‑draw loan maturing in July 2031 at a rate of 6.75% over SONIA. The transaction, led by funds under HPS Investment Partners, is intended to boost liquidity to around £340 million at 30 June 2026, replace existing credit facilities and significantly reduce short‑term refinancing risk. There is also an option to draw a further £100 million, giving management more financial flexibility, and the announcement supported the share price ahead of the half‑year results on 29 July. » More on de.investing.com
