  • BAWAG records quarterly profit of €255m and confirms financing of PTSB takeover

    BAWAG reports a Q2/2026 net profit of €255 million (+21% YoY), a RoTCE of 28.7% and earnings per share of €3.28. Net interest income rose to €488 million, pre-provision operating profit was €413 million, while risk costs increased to €75 million and the NPL ratio stood at 0.9%. The CET1 ratio is 17.4% with a capital surplus of €1.05 billion, and BAWAG intends to fully finance the announced acquisition of Permanent TSB from its own resources; the vote of PTSB shareholders is scheduled for July 30.     Austrian Bawag has prevailed in the purchase of the Irish Permanent TSB Group (PTSB) for around €1.62 billion. Shareholders are being offered a cash bid of €2.97 per share; the Irish finance minister, who holds about 57.5 percent, and the board support the transaction. Bawag beat off US competition; completion remains subject to conditions, including approvals from PTSB shareholders, regulators and the Irish High Court.
