  • Editas: gene therapy candidate EDIT-401 reduces LDL, Lp(a) and ApoB by around 90% in preclinical study

Editas presented preclinical data showing that a single dose of EDIT-401 reduced LDL cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) and apolipoprotein B by an average of about 90% or more in nonhuman primates. Effects were rapid and dose-dependent, and a GLP toxicity study at 1.5 mg/kg showed good tolerability without relevant liver findings. The FDA gave positive preliminary feedback on the nonclinical package and study design; Editas plans a first-in-human clinical study in 2026 and aims for in vivo proof-of-concept data by the end of 2026.
