  • Fifth Third advances Comerica integration and reinvests cost synergies into growth

Fifth Third gave a positive update on the Comerica integration: the conversion moved about 600,000 customers and roughly 300 branches, and gross cost synergies are now estimated at over $900 million. A large portion of the savings is to be reinvested in branch growth, marketing and sales, with the aim of opening 100 branches per year going forward and expanding presence in the Southwest and in Texas. Credit quality remained strong (losses of 30 basis points), deposit and fee dynamics were at the high end of forecasts, and net interest margin was expected in the mid-330s basis points. Fifth Third avoids higher-risk lending segments such as NDFI- and AI data-center financings, maintains a CET1 ratio of 9.9% and plans to return to a normal share buyback program in the fourth quarter. » More on de.investing.com

  • Fifth Third completes technical migration of Comerica accounts and branches

Fifth Third has completed the technical conversion of about 600,000 customer accounts and 293 Comerica branches, following the February 1, 2026 merger. Former Comerica customers gain access to Fifth Third products and will remain with the same local service teams. The merged institution is now the ninth-largest U.S. bank with more than $300 billion in assets and plans significant expansion, including nearly $1 billion in investments in Texas and the opening of 150 new financial centers by 2029; by 2030 it expects to operate about 1,750 branches. » More on de.investing.com

  • Truist and Fifth Third halt sales for Delaware Life after US probes

Truist Financial and Fifth Third have stopped selling products of Delaware Life after US authorities opened investigations into the company and related entities. The SEC and the Department of Justice are focusing particularly on more than $20 billion in loans that appear to have needed to be disclosed as related‑party loans. The probes have delayed investment plans, including a planned $10 billion stake by Mubadala in TWG Global, and have already led to negative rating outlooks for Delaware Life. TWG denies any misconduct and has submitted a plan to reduce exposures to related parties, which is currently under review. » More on de.investing.com
