HP falls nearly 10% in premarket after disappointing outlook and margin pressure
HP shares drop about 10% in premarket trading to $27.49 after Q3 2026 results. Revenue rose to $15.7 billion (+12.5%) and adjusted EPS was $0.83, both supported by a tariff refund of $0.11 per share. PC unit shipments fell 16% and the operating margin in the Personal Systems segment declined to 4.6% due to higher memory prices. For Q4, HP expects adjusted EPS of $0.69–$0.79, which includes an anticipated tariff refund of $0.08 and is likely to fall short of market expectations. » More on de.investing.com
Profit-taking weighs on HP stock after strong quarter
HP delivered a third fiscal quarter with adjusted earnings per share of $0.83 (expectation $0.66) and revenue of $15.7bn, a result clearly above consensus. The market was skeptical, however, because the quarter included a one-off effect from tariff refunds of $0.11 per share and the Q4 outlook includes a similar contribution of about $0.08. Pre-sales and a put-call ratio of almost 4:1 led to profit-taking, causing the stock to fall about 8.3% after hours to $27.98. » More on de.investing.com
HP sees PCs as AI-powered intelligence devices and bets on hybrid AI architecture
At the Six Five Summit, HP argued that PCs are evolving from mere work tools into personal intelligence devices as companies increasingly deploy agent-based AI. The company says that local inference and on-premises solutions can deliver significant cost savings amid rising cloud AI expenses, and it forecasts a $6 trillion market for agent-based AI by 2028. HP outlined a three-tier strategy (devices, ecosystem, IT control) and announced governance and security tools, while warning that software, procurement and governance gaps could delay rollout. HP expects hybrid workloads to drive demand for premium PCs, software and services and to reinforce the endpoint’s role as the central interaction platform. » More on de.investing.com
