ICU Medical sees start of pump replacement cycle; margins and debt reduction in focus
At the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Conference ICU Medical highlighted its transformation into an integrated infusion provider and expects the replacement cycle for infusion pumps to accelerate markedly in 2027. The company reports strong organic growth in IV systems and steady growth in consumables, is targeting a 45% gross margin by the end of 2027 and aims to reduce leverage to 2x by the end of 2026. Short-term headwinds come from tariffs (management says they impact roughly 50% of profits), currency effects and a still-muted pump replacement cycle; key FDA filings for syringe pumps are planned for the second half of 2026. » More on de.investing.com
ICU Medical unveils strategic shift and will prioritize shareholder returns after debt reduction
At the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference, ICU Medical announced a focus on portfolio discipline, operational improvements and a later prioritization of share buybacks and dividends once leverage reaches about 2x. IV systems and consumables are growing in the mid single digits, while the Vital‑Care segment remains weaker and is expected to be sequentially flat. The company sees roughly 200 basis points of gross margin improvement potential from manufacturing, logistics and pricing actions and expects continued share gains in the pump business; it plans to resubmit the 510(k) application for Medfusion in H2 2024. » More on de.investing.com
S&P raises rating for ICU Medical to BB after debt reduction
S&P Global Ratings raised ICU Medical’s rating from BB- to BB, citing improved credit metrics and solid operating performance. Adjusted leverage fell to 2.28x by Q2 2026 after the company used proceeds from the sale of an IV business stake and free operating cash flow to pay down debt. S&P expects adjusted leverage of around 3.2x for 2026/27, mid-single-digit medium-term revenue growth, margin improvements, and confirms a stable outlook. A 2021 FDA warning letter was resolved in early 2026, but another from 2025 relating to certain pump products remains open. » More on de.investing.com
