International Airlines Group profits fall as Iran conflict pushes up fuel costs
International Airlines Group reported a 21% drop in profit after tax to €1bn in H1 2026 while revenue rose 1% to €16bn. The company said it expects no growth in passenger capacity this year as a significant fuel price increase from attacks on Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz raises costs. International Consolidated Airlines Group has set the final buyback price for the senior, unsecured convertible bond 2028 at 145,685.11 EUR per 100,000 EUR nominal and accepted bonds with a total nominal value of 821.7 million EUR. This corresponds to 99.6% of the outstanding volume of 825 million EUR; subsequently, additional securities with a nominal value of 2.7 million EUR were accepted. Settlement is scheduled for 19 May 2026, after which about 3.3 million EUR are expected to remain outstanding, which the company intends to repay by a clean-up call at par plus accrued interest.
