Masimo rises after Danaher acquisition announced, highlighted by Baron Discovery Fund
Baron Discovery Fund noted that Masimo outperformed after Danaher announced a deal to acquire Masimo at a 38% premium, calling it a special situation driven by an activist investor. The fund discussed Masimo's non-invasive patient monitoring technologies and said the situation worked out well for its performance. Masimo closed May 6 at $178.49, has a $9.35 billion market cap, and saw hedge fund holdings rise to 40 portfolios at year-end. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Masimo Corporation resurfaces after consumer divestiture with improving margins and recurring revenue
Masimo Corporation is undergoing a turnaround after divesting its consumer segment in 2025 and refocusing on hospital patient monitoring. The company benefits from high-margin consumables driving recurring revenue, reported continuing-operations revenue growth of about 8% year‑over‑year, and operating margins rebounding toward ~27% with a path to 30% by 2028. A backlog above $500 million and high single-digit growth visibility support the thesis, while valuation remains discounted, leaving analysts projecting 24% to potentially over 50% upside with stronger execution over the next 12–18 months. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Bridger Management exits Masimo stake before $9.9 billion acquisition sparks 34% rally
Bridger Management disclosed it sold its entire Masimo holding, cutting 47,841 shares and reducing its position by about $7.06 million. The sale followed a weak quarter and a roughly 12% pullback in the stock. Weeks later Masimo agreed to be acquired at $180 per share in a deal valuing the company at about $9.9 billion, driving an approximate 34% one‑day surge. The filing shows Bridger’s portfolio remains concentrated in large-cap, cash-generating names, leaving less exposure to event-driven upside like the Masimo takeover. » More on finance.yahoo.com
