UOKiK searches mBank in Poland over mortgage scoring system
The Polish competition authority UOKiK searched premises of Commerzbank subsidiary mBank, ING Bank Śląski, mBank’s mortgage unit and the credit bureau BIK. The probe concerns whether the scoring system used by BIK unjustifiably lowers creditworthiness when there are multiple loan enquiries, thereby disadvantaging competition and consumers. mBank called the allegations “unfounded”, said it would cooperate and filed an appeal against the search order; ING and BIK are also cooperating. mBank unveils a transition plan to support the energy transition with SBTi‑validated net‑zero targets: 2050 for its financed portfolio and 2040 for its own operations. The bank aims to raise the share of sustainable corporate financing to 15% by 2030 (2024: 11%), double the volume of mortgages for energy‑efficient buildings versus 2024, and introduce new products such as green bonds and sustainability‑linked loans (SLL). mBank Q3 2025: net profit rises 46% to PLN 837m, ROTE at 20.1%
mBank reports a Q3 2025 net profit increase of 46.1% to PLN 837m (down 13% vs. the previous quarter) and a 5% rise in revenue for the first nine months to PLN 9.4bn. Return on tangible equity (ROTE) reached 20.1%, while net interest income fell 4.3% and the net interest margin declined to 3.89%; net fee and commission income rose 16.2%. Gross core loans grew 11% to PLN 133.9bn, customer deposits increased 10.6% to PLN 214bn, the NPL ratio fell to 3.4%, and the CET1 ratio stands at 14.5%.
