Meliá announced it will stop operating all 34 of its hotels in Cuba, saying recent US sanctions make it impossible to maintain operational stability. The group will seek a smooth transition to minimise impact on staff, suppliers and guests. The decision follows earlier cuts and rising pressure on foreign firms doing business with Cuban military-linked entities after new measures from Washington. » More on theguardian.com
