Meridian Mining has appointed Dr. Carlos Vilhena and Felipe Holzhacker Alves as independent non-executive directors with immediate effect. Holzhacker Alves brings more than 20 years of mining experience including CEO roles, while Vilhena has over 35 years as a mining lawyer with a focus on Brazil. Holzhacker Alves joins the sustainability, safety and technical committee and Vilhena joins the corporate governance and nominations committee; both meet the independence requirements of the UK Corporate Governance Code and NI 52-110. Meridian Mining has called ordinary and extraordinary general meetings for 29 June in London and announced several personnel proposals for the board. Bruce McLeod, Doug Ford, Susanne Sesselmann, Neil Gregson and CEO Gilbert Clark will stand for re-election, while John Skinner and Adrian McArthur will not; Skinner is moving to the advisory board and McArthur will remain as president in an executive capacity. Meridian Mining has had 485,513,514 ordinary shares admitted to the FCA Official List and has commenced trading on the London Main Market and in Toronto under the ticker MNO. The company expects inclusion in the FTSE UK Index Series due to free float and liquidity (target: FTSE All-Share at the next review, FTSE 250 within 12 months). Meridian is focused on the Cabaçal gold–copper project in Mato Grosso; a March 2025 pre-feasibility study indicates a 10-year mine life, 141,000 ounces annual production, a post-tax IRR of 61.2% and an NPV of $984m.
