MPLX posts strong five‑year gains, 7% yield and pledged distribution growth through 2027
MPLX returned about 225% over the past five years with distributions reinvested, offers a roughly 7.4% yield and management has committed to 12.5% annual distribution growth through 2027 with a 1.3x coverage floor. The midstream MLP is majority‑owned by Marathon Petroleum (≈64%) and generates fee‑based cash flows from pipelines and terminals, but carries K‑1 tax complexities for taxable accounts. Leverage rose to 3.7x debt‑to‑EBITDA after the $2.38 billion Northwind acquisition, leaving only 0.3x of headroom before the 4.0x limit. Ten‑year performance (323% vs QQQ's 527%) highlights sector cyclicality and the importance of entry timing; investors seeking similar exposure without K‑1s can consider the AMLP ETF. » More on finance.yahoo.com
