Equinor benefits from high gas prices, German gas storage at record low
German gas storage is at a record low of 49% full â the emptiest level since records began; a year earlier it was 67% at the same time. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs currently sees no acute gas shortage but stresses that supplies are secured via pipelines from Norway, LNG terminals and neighboring countries. High prices after the Iran war are boosting Equinorâs revenues: Q2 pipeline gas prices rose sharply and adjusted operating income was $11.48 billion. Equinor buys 17.4% stake in offshore exploration license PEL 90 in Namibia
Equinor has signed an agreement to acquire a 17.4% interest in the offshore exploration license PEL 90 in the Orange Basin off Namibia from a Chevron subsidiary. The acquisition marks Equinorâs market entry into Namibia and provides access to a drillâready prospect with planned testing in 2026; financial terms were not disclosed. Equinor buys 87.71% of Lackawanna gas plant in Pennsylvania for $940m
Equinor acquires an 87.71% stake in the Lackawanna Energy Center, a 1,483-megawatt gas-and-steam combined-cycle power plant in Pennsylvania, for $940 million, subject to possible purchase price adjustments at closing and regulatory approval. Sellers are funds managed by Global Infrastructure Partners; Invenergy retains the remaining stakes and remains the plant operator.
