Smithfield reports record 2025 profits, proposes Nathan’s Famous buy and $1.3bn Sioux Falls investment

Packaged meat giant Smithfield Foods will acquire Nathan’s Famous in an all-cash $450 million deal, paying $102 per share for all outstanding stock. Smithfield, which already produced Nathan’s branded products in North America, expects about $9 million in annual savings within two years and plans to keep the Coney Island hot dog-eating contest.
