Olympus reports strong first quarter; shares rise 1.82%
Olympus posted better margins, lower costs and solid demand in North America in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, so results exceeded analysts' expectations. No concrete figures for revenue or EPS were released, but management left the fullâyear forecast unchanged. Olympus seeks margin expansion for fiscal 2027 after FDA-related charges
Olympus reported sales of „1,010.7 billion for fiscal 2026 but took roughly „30 billion in charges from FDA import warnings and supply stoppages; adjusted operating margin fell to 14.2%. Q4 showed signs of recovery with improvements in sales and margins. For 2027 management forecasts sales of „1,055â1,076 billion and is targeting an adjusted operating margin of 15.2â16.7% (up 100â250 basis points). Olympus cuts sales forecast by 2%; shares fall 5.22%
Olympus revised its currency-adjusted sales forecast for the third quarter down by 2%; the share price fell 5.22% to „1,954.5 after the announcement.
