  • Samsung raises price for Galaxy S26 FE to $700

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S26 FE and increased the price by $50 over the previous model to $700. The model will be available from carriers on Sept. 3 and directly from Samsung on Sept. 4. The S26 FE uses a MediaTek processor, offers 12 GB of RAM, fewer AI features and a weaker camera system than the high-end models, runs One UI 9 on Android 17 for the first time, and features a 6.7-inch display and a 4,900-mAh battery with 45-W charging. » More on de.investing.com

  • Samsung must pay Swatch $11.6 million for copied watch faces

A London High Court ordered Samsung to pay $11.6 million to the Swatch Group after digital watch-face designs from brands like Breguet, Longines and Omega were offered in Samsung’s Galaxy App Store. Judge Marcus Smith awarded $10 million for the display in the store and found that offering the faces for free or cheaply harmed the brands. The apps were from third-party developers; Swatch had sought about $170 million, while Samsung argued damages were only $301. In an earlier 2022 ruling Samsung was already found guilty of trademark infringement and an appeal failed. » More on de.investing.com

  • Samsung could displace Apple from first place in the smartphone market again

The global smartphone market will shrink by more than 14 percent this year, according to Counterpoint, and will remain in decline through 2027. Despite the difficult environment, Counterpoint expects Samsung to grow by about 0.8 percent in 2026—thanks to strong in‑house components, a broad product portfolio and established distribution relationships—and could thus displace Apple from the top spot. The study forecasts a small shipment decline for Apple in 2026, with a broader market recovery not expected until 2028. » More on heise.de
