SM Energy has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.22 per common share, equivalent to a yield of 2.61%. The dividend will be paid on June 22, 2026 to shareholders of record as of June 8, 2026. SM Energy amends change-of-control severance agreement for CEO and raises compensation targets
SM Energy’s compensation committee redrafted the CEO Elizabeth A. McDonald’s change-of-control severance agreement effective January 30, 2026; under defined conditions the agreement provides severance that includes a one-time payment equal to three times base salary, an additional payment equal to three times base salary multiplied by the target bonus percentage, a prorated target bonus for the year of termination, and 24 times the monthly employer family health-insurance contribution. The board also increased long-term incentive targets: McDonald to $5.8 million (40% RSU, 60% PSU) and Blake D. McKenna to $2.4 million (50% RSU/50% PSU). SM Energy Q1 2026: production exceeds guidance, synergies nearly doubled
SM Energy reported Q1 2026 production of 371.2 MBoe/d, beating the top end of its guidance range while spending significantly less Capex at $672 million. The company posted adjusted EBITDAX of $970 million, adjusted free cash flow of $20 million after roughly $180 million of one‑time costs, and has already realized $300 million of merger synergies. The synergy target was raised to a $375 million run‑rate (NPV‑10 of $1.8 billion) and 2026 production was revised up to 420 MBoe/d with an unchanged capital spending outlook of $2.75 billion.
