Telus under pressure after $2.1bn impairment, forecast cut and dividend reduction
Telus reported a non-cash $2.1bn impairment at TELUS Digital, which pushed the company to a net loss of $1.8bn in the second quarter. Management lowered its full-year guidance: consolidated service revenue is expected to be flat or decline by up to 2%, and adjusted EBITDA is forecast to fall by 2–4%. The quarterly dividend was cut by 55% and the dividend reinvestment plan was stripped of its discount to fund debt reduction. TELUS cuts dividend sharply, lowers revenue outlook and stock tumbles
TELUS announced a quarterly dividend of C$0.1875 (down 55%) and will eliminate the discount in its dividend reinvestment program effective October 1, 2026. At the same time the company cut its full-year guidance for consolidated service revenues to flat to −2% and plans to save about C$2.7 billion by 2028, mainly to reduce debt. Leadership change at TELUS: David Fuller to lead telecommunications division
From 1 September 2026, David Fuller will return as Executive Vice President and Group President of TELUS Communications and will take over Consumer Solutions and Business Solutions. Navin Arora will become EVP and Group President of Global Platform Businesses and will be responsible for TELUS Health, TELUS Agriculture & Consumer Goods, TELUS Digital Solutions and corporate strategy.
