Thungela CEO Moses Madondo sells shares to settle tax liabilities
Moses Madondo, CEO of Thungela, sold 26,279 ordinary shares on 20 August to settle tax liabilities arising from the allocation of forfeitable share awards. The transaction was executed on the exchange at a volume-weighted average price of R 117,91 (range R 112,64–R 120,08) and had a total value of R 3.098.556,89. Thungela reports strong profit and cash-flow jump, shares rise 12.5%
In H1 2026 Thungela reported adjusted EBITDA of ZAR 1.3bn (+91%) and adjusted operating free cash flow of ZAR 1.9bn (+292%). Reported earnings per share climbed to ZAR 10.95 (+467%), aided by a non-cash disposal gain from the sale of the Kleinkopje mining right; headline EPS was ZAR 4.80. The stock rose about 12.5% following the results, the company announced an interim dividend of ZAR 5.50 per share and increased its net cash position to ZAR 6.1bn. Thungela announces interim dividend of 550 cents per share
Thungela has declared a gross interim dividend of 550.00 cents per share in South African rand, payable on 21 September (JSE register) and 5 October (LSE register). The record date is 18 September; trading ex-dividend begins on the JSE on 16 September and on the LSE on 17 September.
