tanker deal worth USD 679m boosts TOP Ships stock

TOP Ships agreed to acquire nine newbuild ECO‑MR product tankers to be delivered by Guangzhou Shipyard International Company Limited in 2028–2029. Firm seven‑year time‑charter contracts with a major oil trading company are already in place for all vessels, with an option for a further four years; potential gross revenue including options is around USD 679 million. TOP Ships will pay about USD 41 million for the shares in the special‑purpose vehicles; the acquisition was approved by an independent committee and accompanied by a fairness opinion.
