TSMC uses AI only cautiously and warns of risks
Y.J. Mii, Co-COO of TSMC, calls AI a “three-year-old Superman” and stresses that the company uses artificial intelligence in research and development only very cautiously because of risks such as data leaks and data tampering. He currently considers AI of little help in designing the next generation of semiconductors. Despite the caution, TSMC is benefiting massively from the AI boom: revenue in August was more than 50% above the prior year, and NT$3.38 trillion was generated year-to-date. Industry representatives also warn that the high pace of innovation can lead to technical errors in production, with costly consequences for AI deployment. » More on faz.net
