Vertex aligns growth strategy with kidney medicine
At the Morgan Stanley Healthcare Conference, Vertex presented its shift from a cystic fibrosis focus to a diversified pharma platform, with kidney medicine (Pove for IgA nephropathy, Inaxaplin for APOL1‑related kidney disease) as a central growth axis. Pove has a PDUFA date of Nov. 30 and Vertex reports productive payer discussions in the U.S.; GFR data were withheld to preserve global approval options. Inaxaplin is in the phase‑III AMPLITUDE study with an interim analysis in early 2025. Additional cystic fibrosis and gene‑editing programs continue to provide cash flow and growth potential, while approval, trial results and reimbursement remain risks. » More on de.investing.com
Vertex unveils strategy shift beyond cystic fibrosis
At the Cantor Fitzgerald Healthcare Conference, Vertex announced plans to expand its business beyond cystic fibrosis into multiple pillars, focusing on pain, hematology, kidney diseases and rare endocrine disorders following the Crinetics acquisition. CASGEVY and JOURNAVX are expected to generate combined revenue of more than $500m in 2025; JOURNAVX already has 1.6m prescriptions in 2025 and access to 260m insured lives. The PDUFA date for povetacicept in IgA nephropathy is November 30, 2025; inaxaplin is progressing as planned in the phase‑III AMPLITUDE study with interim readouts in early 2027. Vertex emphasized strict acquisition criteria and sees peak sales potential of up to $5bn from Crinetics additions PALSONIFY and Atumelnant. » More on de.investing.com
Vertex focuses on kidney therapies as next growth engine
Vertex is shifting to a broader business model and aims to grow beyond cystic fibrosis, particularly in kidney diseases. Key programs include Inaxaplin (AMPLITUDE) for APOL1-mediated diseases with an interim readout in Q1 2027, and Povetacicept for IgA nephropathy (PDUFA 30.11.2024). The integration of Crinetics adds PALSONIFY and Atumelnant to the portfolio; Vertex expects combined peak sales of about $5 billion and cites numerous catalysts over the next 12–24 months. JOURNAVX is showing prescription-side growth, but revenue realization remains temporarily dampened by reimbursement issues. » More on de.investing.com
