Wheels Up Experience: head of sales Mark Briffa steps down
Wheels Up Experience announced that head of sales Mark Briffa will step down with a transition period until Sept. 1, 2026; Chief Digital Officer David Godsman will assume interim responsibility for global sales. Briffa signed a termination agreement that provides salary payments through Dec. 31, 2026, lump-sum severance payments of £378,354.82 and additional compensation arrangements. The move comes against the backdrop of significant financial burdens for the company (US$732 million of debt, market capitalization of about US$181 million, negative free cash flow of US$437 million), while Wheels Up also reported progress such as an accelerated fleet modernization, an unsecured US$100 million loan and inclusion in the Russell indexes. » More on de.investing.com
Wheels Up completes fleet modernization 18 months ahead of schedule
Wheels Up, with support from 5x5 Trading, completed the modernization of its jet fleet about 18 months earlier than planned, reducing the fleet to two jet types (Embraer Phenom 300 and Bombardier Challenger 300/350). 5x5 Trading handled the acquisition and disposition of nearly 100 aircraft and acted as exclusive transaction partner. The restructuring is intended to strengthen operational efficiency and member and charter offerings, but comes against a backdrop of significant debt; Wheels Up has a market capitalization of $334 million and annual revenue of $728 million. The stock fell 59% last year but has recently shown gains. » More on de.investing.com
Wheels Up secures $68 million mezzanine financing for fleet expansion
Wheels Up has closed a secured $68 million mezzanine financing with Sankaty Jet Capital (AIP Capital) to fund the purchase of additional Phenom 300 and Challenger 300 aircraft. The facility is initially collateralized by 51 existing aircraft with an estimated value of about $277.8 million and is intended to enable acquisitions over the next 18 months. The capital comes despite high leverage (total debt of more than $473 million), a low liquidity ratio (current ratio 0.27) and a share price that has lost roughly 85% year‑over‑year. » More on de.investing.com
