Because of the low water level of the Danube, voestalpine is moving a significant portion of its raw material and goods transports to rail. Logistics and rail company Logserv is enabling the shift of more than one hundred thousand tonnes without noticeable additional costs so far, and raw material supply at the Linz site is currently secure. Analyst Dominic O’Kane raised the rating from Underweight to Overweight, citing new EU protective measures for steel imports that sharply cut duty‑free quotas and raise tariffs on excess volumes. JPMorgan also upgraded competitors and expects European steel prices to rise in the second half of 2026.
