MariaDB has acquired SkySQL and is bringing the AI-powered, serverless DBaaS offering back into its product portfolio after SkySQL was originally spun out of MariaDB. The acquisition brings the entire SkySQL team to MariaDB and expands MariaDB Cloud with capabilities for deployment on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, a serverless mode and agentic-AI features.
