Air New Zealand beats Q2 EPS forecasts despite annual loss
Air New Zealand reported Q2 2026 EPS of $6.60 (expectation $5.16) on revenue of $3.45bn, beating estimates. The stock rose sharply after hours but closed in regular trading near the previous close. For fiscal 2026 the airline recorded a pre‑tax loss of NZ$336m, but showed operational improvements in punctuality and cancellations. Management gave no concrete profit guidance for 2027 due to volatile jet fuel prices and plans moderate capacity increases while continuing to focus on cost reduction and strengthening the balance sheet. » More on de.investing.com
Air New Zealand: fiscal year 2027 will be a transition year
Macquarie views fiscal year 2027 as a transition year for Air New Zealand and kept the rating at "Underperform." The airline confirmed its FY2026 guidance of a NZ$340–390m loss; capacity growth was sharply revised down (first half of FY2027 only +0.9%). Fare increases, the company says, cover 25–30% of fuel costs, yet improvement in revenue per available seat kilometer remains limited. Capacity adjustments and route changes as well as reduced compensation payments are expected to weigh on the short term before the benefits of normalized aircraft availability and scale effects materialize. » More on de.investing.com
