Aurora Innovation to shift to per-mile autonomous-trucking model in 2027
Aurora Innovation has begun generating revenue in 2025 and operates autonomous semitrucks on interstate routes in the southern U.S. The company will transition in 2027 to installing its hardware and software into fleet-owned heavy trucks and charging fleet operators on a per-mile basis. Analysts forecast strong market upside — Morningstar sees autonomous trucks at 40% of U.S. semitruck miles by 2040 and Goldman Sachs projects a $560 billion global AV trucking market by 2035 — making Aurora a high-upside, early-stage AV trucking play. » More on finance.yahoo.com
Aurora says autonomous trucks cut fuel consumption about 15% amid diesel spike
Aurora reports that its autonomous long-haul trucks achieve roughly a 14–15% reduction in fuel consumption versus human-driven rigs, translating to about $0.15 per mile savings at current diesel prices. Efficiency gains come from smoother acceleration/braking, consistent 65 mph cruising and longer operating hours since robots are not subject to driver rest limits. Aurora aims to operate at least 200 fully autonomous trucks in southern U.S. markets by year-end and scale to 1,500 with next‑generation sensors and computing. » More on forbes.com
Aurora Innovation partners with Berkshire-owned McLane for autonomous deliveries, stock jumps
Aurora Innovation announced a deal with Berkshire-owned McLane to begin autonomous deliveries in Texas using Aurora’s self-driving system initially deployed in long-haul trucking. A prior pilot moved 1,400 loads with a 100% on-time delivery rate, and Aurora plans to expand routes across the U.S. Sun Belt and take on more McLane business later this year. The company also added a new 200-mile Volvo Autonomous Solutions route between Dallas and Oklahoma City; Aurora shares rose about 11% intraday ahead of its quarterly results. » More on finance.yahoo.com
