BlueScope beats forecasts for H2 2026 — shares fall 2.4%
BlueScope reported adjusted EBIT of AUD 1.27 billion for fiscal 2026 and an EBIT of AUD 716 million in the second half, both above expectations, as well as an adjusted net profit after tax of just over AUD 800 million. The company raised the final and special dividends, bringing total distributions for 2026 to AUD 3.00 per share, and reported net debt of AUD 600 million. Management views FY27 as a transition year with increased investments (CapEx around AUD 1 billion, about AUD 600 million in H1) and expects adjusted EBIT of AUD 860–960 million for H1 FY27. Despite the strong results, the stock fell 2.4% as investors emphasised short-term risks from large projects and higher CapEx. » More on de.investing.com

SGH and Steel Dynamics have made a final, non-binding cash offer for BlueScope Steel of A$32.35 per share, valuing BlueScope at about A$15 billion and representing a 47% premium to the adjusted closing price before the first bid. The price reflects an announced special dividend of A$1.00 and an interim dividend of A$0.65.
