Trump revokes U.S. certification for Bombardier planes and threatens 50 percent tariffs
U.S. President Donald Trump announced he would strip the U.S. certification for aircraft made in Canada as long as Ottawa does not grant approval to U.S. manufacturers such as Gulfstream. He also threatened 50 percent tariffs on planes from Canada. Bombardier is assessing the situation and is in contact with the Canadian government; a revocation would affect CRJ regional jets and A220 aircraft and would have significant impacts on U.S. air traffic. Bombardier Global 8000 receives EASA approval as fastest civilian business jet
The Bombardier Global 8000 was certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), after Transport Canada and the FAA had already granted approvals. The jet reaches up to Mach 0.95, has a range of around 8,000 nautical miles and is powered by two General Electric Passport engines.
