Cathay Financial posts record profit for H1 2026 thanks to banking, insurance and investment gains

Cathay Financial reports a net profit of TWD 76.5 billion for the first half of 2026; including after‑tax FVOCI realized gains transferred to retained earnings, total comprehensive income rises to TWD 165.9 billion (EPS 4.95 and 11.04). Drivers were higher income in the banking business with an improved net interest margin, strong new business at Cathay Life, and gains in investment and securities operations. Cathay United Bank recorded loan and deposit growth of 14% and 15% respectively, and the holding’s ROE was 16.9%.
