  • Downer reports profit and margin increase, shares fall after weak H1 outlook

Downer recorded rising adjusted NPATA (AUD 306.7m), reported NPAT (AUD 225m) and a higher adjusted EBITA margin of 5.1% in the 2026 financial year; cash conversion also improved to 91.1%. The stock fell about 11.7% after management, while expecting revenue and earnings growth for 2027, forecast a weaker first half and heavily weighted results toward the second half. Downer enters 2027 with more than 70% of revenue secured and an order book of AUD 38.5bn, but plans higher capital, transformation and operating expenditures and expects rising interest costs. Risks include the ramp-up of new contracts, timing of key contract awards and intra-year volatility from the transition of large projects into series phases. » More on de.investing.com
