Evonik raises full-year guidance after strong second quarter

Evonik has increased its 2026 guidance and now expects adjusted EBITDA of €2.0 to €2.2 billion, up from the previous €1.7 to €2.0 billion. Preliminary EBITDA for Q2 is €600 to €650 million, on average 23% above last year’s €509 million. Evonik announces further job cuts and closure of polyester business

Evonik plans to cut 3,200 jobs worldwide by the end of 2029, of which 2,150 will be in Germany, and is also focusing on efficiency gains, digitalization and outsourcing. Already by the end of 2026 about 2,800 jobs are to be eliminated under ongoing programs. The loss-making polyester business, with roughly €150 million in annual sales, will be discontinued; the Witten site with 266 employees is to be closed in 2027. Evonik produces new AEM membrane in pilot plant, aims to make green hydrogen cheaper

Evonik has started up a pilot plant in Marl to produce a new anion-exchange membrane (AEM) for electrolysis, which the company says could reduce electrolysis capital costs by about 25 percent. The plant can manufacture membranes for up to 2.5 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity and is targeting demand especially from China. At the same time, Evonik is consolidating research and development in an “Evonik Innovation Factory,” which is expected to contribute up to €300 million to revenue growth by 2032, while the group is also implementing a restructuring program with job cuts. » More on faz.net
