  • GE Appliances to shift appliance production from China back to Louisville plant

A vacant 1950s factory at GE Appliances' Louisville headquarters is being reactivated to bring a manufacturing line now in China back to the U.S. The move will restore domestic production of appliances under GE brands and create local jobs, reflecting a reshoring trend at the company's sprawling industrial campus. » More on washingtonpost.com

  • Vineyard Wind sues GE Renewables to block contractor exit as project nears commissioning

Vineyard Wind sued GE Renewables in Boston court alleging breach of contract and seeking an injunction to stop GE from abandoning turbine supply, commissioning and maintenance work by April 28. GE issued a termination notice citing over $300 million in unpaid bills, while Vineyard Wind says GE owes it more than $800 million for delays and losses from a 2024 blade failure and may therefore withhold payments. Vineyard Wind warns that GE’s exit would likely prevent the 62-turbine, $4.5 billion project from reaching full output, risk lender defaults on $2 billion of loans and leave the wind farm inoperable. GE says it exercised contractual rights for non-payment and will defend its position; a hearing is scheduled April 16 and GE must respond by April 15. » More on finance.yahoo.com

  • Vineyard Wind sues GE Renewables to block contract termination

Vineyard Wind filed suit in Massachusetts seeking to force GE Renewables to remain on the project after GE Vernova said it would terminate turbine service and maintenance contracts, citing $300 million owed to it. Vineyard Wind counters that GE remains liable for about $545 million related to a July 2024 blade collapse and resulting delays, and says GE's exit would cause irreparable harm. GE Vernova says it is exercising contractual termination rights for nonpayment and will defend its position; a hearing is scheduled Thursday. The offshore wind farm has completed construction and is expected to reach full operations soon, with 62 turbines producing 800 MW. » More on yahoo.com
