Hitachi Energy buys Canduct Group to strengthen transformer insulation in North America

Hitachi Energy has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Canadian Canduct Group; closing is expected in early third quarter 2026 and is subject to customary conditions. Canduct, based in Ontario, manufactures insulation kits and components for transformers, employs more than 300 people and has supplied Hitachi Energy for over two decades. Hitachi Rail to acquire US technology provider Clever Devices

Hitachi Rail has signed a binding agreement to acquire Clever Devices, a US provider of intelligent transportation systems headquartered in Woodbury, New York. Clever Devices forecasts revenue of more than USD 220 million for 2026, employs about 600 people and serves more than 250 customers, including eight of the ten largest North American transit agencies. The acquisition is intended to strengthen Hitachi Rail’s multimodal mobility offering and presence in North America and to complement the HMAX mobility platform with onboard and central data solutions; the deal is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close later this year. » More on de.investing.com
Hitachi Energy strengthens North America business with Blackstone partnership and stake in Shermco

Hitachi Energy enters a strategic partnership with Blackstone Energy Transition Partners and acquires a stake in electrical service provider Shermco to expand its service business in North America. The cooperation combines Hitachi’s energy technology, Blackstone’s investment capacity and Shermco’s service expertise with over 600 technicians and 200 engineers across 40 service centers. Hitachi plans to invest more than USD 1 billion globally in service expansion, digital solutions with HMAX Energy and workforce growth, including over 5,000 additional service professionals, to address aging grid infrastructure and rising demand from electrification.
