IP Group increases net asset value in H1 2026 thanks to stronger cash realisations

IP Group reports a NAV per share of 114p as of 30 June 2026, which rose to around 117p by 11 September. Cash realisations more than doubled to £69m, boosting liquidity and lifting the post-period gross cash position to £256m. Fair-value gains of about £31m — largely from licence fees related to Pfizer’s obesity programme — and progress at holdings such as Oxford Nanopore supported the result. Takeover of IP Group fails: Railpen makes no offer

The Railways Pension Trustee Company (Railpen) has confirmed it will not submit a takeover offer for IP Group because it is subject to the restrictions of Rule 2.8 of the City Code. IP Group had extended the “put up or shut up” deadline but was unable to reach an agreed solution with Railpen. The company is therefore ending the offer phase and will focus on capital allocation, implementing its portfolio strategy, realising cash and expanding its platform for third‑party capital; the portfolio is expected to deliver potential value‑enhancing milestones over the next 18 months. » More on de.investing.com
IP Group rejects takeover bid from Railpen worth about £630m

IP Group’s board rejected a revised offer from Railpen of 71.3 pence per share, saying it undervalued the company’s future potential. Railpen’s offer (around £630m) comprised 61p in cash, 10.3p for the stake in Oxford Nanopore and a conditional value right of up to 11.3p for Metsera, which could raise the total value to as much as £730m. Without the conditional value right the offer represented a roughly 10.2% premium to the closing price; Railpen holds 18.4% of IP Group.
