Oasis demands higher bid in takeover battle for Kakaku.com
Hedge fund Oasis, which holds about 19.5% of Kakaku.com, refuses to tender its shares to the consortium offer of 3,570 JPY led by EQT. Oasis describes the higher 3,640 JPY offer from Bain and LY Corp as unrealistic because of its dependence on KDDI, and demands that the board either withdraw its support for the Kamgras-1 offer or negotiate a price above 3,640 JPY. Oasis will not tender its shares while the EQT offer remains below the Bain proposal and is pressing for renegotiations. » More on de.investing.com
Takeover battle over Kakaku.com weighs on LY Corp shares
LY Corp's stock fell 2.39% to ¥404.8 after LY, together with Bain Capital, raised its takeover offer for Kakaku.com to ¥3,232 per share. The offer is above the competing proposal from EQT (¥3,000), but still below Kakaku's recent market price, worrying investors about a possible overpayment. Kakaku had already signalled its support for the EQT offer, creating the risk of an escalating bidding war and additional capital outlays for LY. Analysts rate LY's stock as "hold" with a price target of ¥450, which further intensified the selling pressure. » More on de.investing.com
Kakaku.com boosts revenue strongly, slightly misses profit forecast
Kakaku.com reported Q3 2025 EPS of ¥25.28 (forecast ¥25.52) and revenue of ¥24.03 billion JPY (expectation ¥24.24 billion JPY). Revenue grew 18.2% year-on-year, but operating profit fell 9.2%. Despite the slight forecast misses, the stock rose 0.85% to ¥1,874. Management remains committed to the full-year forecast and continues to invest in AI, Kyujin Box and Tabelog, but sees risks from the declining operating profit and rising interest rates. » More on de.investing.com
